We are living in turbulent times. The world seems to be
getting worse and worse. Moral standards are dragging in the
dust, and prices are constantly going up. The threat of
terrorism hangs over our heads like the sword
of Damocles. We are losing a generation of young people to drugs.
Politicians are trying to patch up our ailing planet with band-aids.
However, it seems that when you patch up trouble in one place, it breaks
out somewhere else. We are plagued with the problems of
unemployment, poverty, sickness, homelessness, crime, aids, divorce,
and the list goes on and on.
A spirit of hopelessness and despair seems to be sweeping over the
world. With the multiple problems facing mankind, people from
all walks of life are asking the question , "Is there any word from
the Lord?"
I am happy to report to you that there is a word from the Lord.
If you are lonely, read Hebrews 13:5. If you are discouraged,
read Isaiah 41:10. If you are in trouble, read Isaiah 41:2.
If you are sick, read James 5:14. If you are worried, read
Philippians 4:19. If you have financial problems, read Psalms
37:25, and if you are perplexed, read Proverbs 3:5,6.
Is there any word from the Lord? I answer, like Jeremiah, there
is. To those who sorrow, there is a word from the Lord: it
says, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning
(Psalm 30:5)."
To those in trouble, there is a word from the Lord: its says,
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
(Psalm 46:1)."
To heads of government who are not standing for the right, there is a
word from the Lord: it says, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but
sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34)." To those who are dabbling in
the pleasures of sin, there is a word from the Lord: it
says, "Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap
(Galatians 6:7)." To those who have grown weary
of the journey, there is word from the Lord: it says, "But they that
wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength: they shall mount
up with the wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary:
and they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)."
